The salsa lady's friend showed up today with four each of tomato, pepper, eggplant and cilantro plants. I guess salsa is on for this summer. Two of the peppers are jalapeno so they're gonna spice up my life. It will take a week to get them acclimated to full sun so I have plenty of time to figure out where to put them. It's funny because just the other day I rediscovered that groupings of three plants or mounds is more aesteticly pleasing to me than groupings of four..

Now I have four groupings of four to deal with. Five would work, seven works, but four just seems to form a square. I guess I could do rows, but a row of only four plants is a bit stubby. I've got a week to come up with a creative solution so I'll let my subconscious work on it..

I finally got the upper hand today on the weeds that have been encroaching on my garden. My son got me a battery powered weed eater as an early Father's day gift. He knew I couldn't wait until Father's day or I would have nowhere to walk. It is light, powerful and quiet, and will keep me from going insane trying to keep up with Mother Nature's onslaught. It cuts back the Creeping Jenny to the ground and widens the pathways. It allows me to cove the remaining Creeping Jenny so that it isn't two feet tall..

Ground covers look best low to the ground. When it starts throwing shade it's too darn high. The weed eater is so light that my wife is using it. Every time I hear it running I realize that's some weedeating that I won't have to do..

It turns out that the two hot pepper plants that the salsa lady gave me are not jalapeno but habanero. I googled them to see if there were special growing requirements and found out they have a rating of 200000 to 300000 on the Scoville hotness scale compared to jalapenos that are rated from 2500 to 10000. This is a huge difference and I tried to explain it to her, but she acted as if everything was fine. As a non cook, and a guy, I would spice up my salsa with hot sauce..

Add a dash, stir and taste. Repeat until perfect. Having super hot peppers to dilute would take me too much time and I'd probably burn my tongue in the process..
