It's time to come up with some New Year's resolutions. Im'a gonna get more exercise. I think we Grampa gardeners could all get on that bandwagon. I'm also planning on paying more attention to those moments that make you stop what you're doing and look up. I call them "priority pauses" because you have the opportunity to evaluate what you're doing in terms of your self fullfilment..

I usually just smile and go back to work, but I resolve to stretch the moment out, and cherish it's gift. I also resolve to continue my thankfulness for an incredible garden to sit in, with all of it's diverse sights, sounds and fragrances. I've learned from the old year how to make the new year better..

"Because it's fun". That was the response from my son when I caught him attaching LEDs to a 9volt battery in his bedroom one day. He was probably up to something more nefarious, like being able to read under the covers past bedtime, but I bought it at the time. Since then I've embraced it like a mantra, especially when gardening..

I stopped asking myself why I enjoy it, and accept that I don't need to understand because "It's fun". The effort I put in would be "work" anywhere else, but the planting zones within my fenced enclosure are immune to that nasty word..
