I was wondering when the broccoli transplants would stop looking so spindly when I realized I had forgotten to fish emulsion them. I have mulched and composted my garden for twenty years and there is still need for extra nitrogen for some of the plants. The cauliflower transplants are thick and bushy but if l don't use fish emulsion on them every three weeks I'll get heads no larger than three inches..

I've never fertilized root crops and always get perfect beets, but neglecting the cole crops is now an obvious mistake..

There was nothing in the water after the first rince. I don't know how long it will be before we eat them because the cook turned her nose up at them.

I've Never Had Aphids Up In the Florets of Cauliflower

They got up into the tiniest crevasses and sucked the plants juices until they got too fat to get them out. I kept breaking the head into smaller and smaller pieces and spraying them with the hose until I got down to quarter inch florets with aphid still stuck inside.

I Made a Funny Discovery Today

All of the Garlic Are Up Now

I've had to weed the patch already to, not because of weeds , but because of a plethora of poppies plants. When poppies finish going to seed their stems are tan colored like straw mulch, so when they fall to the ground I leave them, hence I'll never run out of poppies.
